My name is Mohammad Reza Rofougaran, but I am mostly known as “Reza Rofougaran”. I was born in February of 1953 in Tehran. I completed my primary education at Iran-Jehanbani School and secondary school at Azar High School. I graduated from Tehran College of Insurance in 1975 (BA in Business Insurance). In 1978 I earned an MBA (Master’s of Business Administration) from Marshall University in Huntington, West Virginia (United States) and went back to Iran to live and work there.
I returned to the United States in 1984 to continue my education and stay permanently. I live with my wife Ms. Shohreh Nikkhah in Vienna, Virginia (suburbs of Washington DC). My son Mahdi (Matt) lives in Reston, Virginia with his wife, Ms. Sahar Aziz and their son Darius. My wife has a 30-year-old son (Shayan) and a 27-year-old daughter (Shawna). My brother Masood and his wife and their daughter also live in the area and many of my wife’s immediate family also live nearby. We all enjoy a good extended family with each other.
Here is my professional background. I worked as a reporter with the daily “Ettelaat Newspaper” in Tehran (1972-1975). Upon returning to Iran (1978) I was offered to work as the Economic Editor of the newly established “Mizan Newspaper” (1980-1981), while working at Telecommunication Company of Iran (Financial Analyst, 1978-1982) and then National Iranian Industries Organization (contract administrator, 1982-1984).
In October of 1984 I returned to the United States to continue my education and live there permanently. Initially. I taught at several American Colleges and Universities (1986-1988) in South Florida and then Started working as a Financial Analyst and Contract Administrator for several American companies in Washington DC. (1988-2003). At the same time, I studied to become a real estate salesperson and then a real estate broker and worked as a realtor since 1989 as a second job and since 2003 as a primary profession.
My son Matt and I are partners in the real estate business. He is also helping me to develop this Rofougaran family tree site.
